the famous cake incident

dad is in visiting for his big 60th birthday (as his present, hester and I flew him out here to spend the week with us). Well since dairy queen is his favorite ice cream place here in Ohio we had to get his caked from dq...sadly the caken ended up on the floor! Dad picked it up to hold it up for a picture and it slid right off and landed on the floor...not that, that would stop us from eating it...trust me - we went on to enjoy the cake just fine! 5 second rule...

were you there?

we were - harry potter mania...

the madness...

this is nothing compared to how crowded it got...

love the boxes - we even got one...

the line at walmart...

kel and her long awaiting possession...

Friday night - the big night of the release of the final harry potter book and kelly and I went to join in on the madness. Even though it was crazy as you can see in these photos we had a blast. We got to B & N and got our braclet (or kely got her braclet since I wasn't getting a book) and we found out that we were in the non-preordered book line and we were in the 200's - so we figured it would be a while. After it got crazier and crazier we decided to head over to walmart and purchase the book there. We had to wait in line there (seriously one cash register to ring up the entire line - short line but took forever) but really it was nothing compared to barnes and noble...

House for Sale...

Our house has been on the market for one week and we've had 5 showings and one open house and no bites. Everyone say's that I'm expecting too much too soon but I can't help but want the house to sell really fast - I love this house so why wouldn't anyone else. Here's a couple of pictures in case you know anyone looking in the Columbus, Ohio area:

a note from one of my favorite photographers...

Some info off of Jessica Claire's blog about a program called Through Their Eyes -

From Jessica's blog...
"My good friend David Hessemer is doing a blogathon TODAY for his "Through Their Eyes" Africa project. He is going to be taking a team (myself and David Jay included) to Africa next year to areas where all the adults have died and the children are more or less on their own with little aid. In addition to helping the people living there, we will also be teaching them to take photographs, in the hope of giving them a skill as well as to be able to see the world the way they see it. The photographs they take will be formed into a traveling exhibit all over the country.

It's really a fantastic project, however, it needs funding to make it happen! Today and tomorrow we are running a blogathon to make that happen. The link where you go to donate and learn more about the project is:

www.throughtheireyesafrica.typepad.com

As an added incentive--ANYONE who donates or puts this post on their own blog can be entered to win a SHOOTSAC!! Just leave a comment below to let me know that you donated, or a link to your blog post if you posted, and make sure to put in your email address. I will picking one winner and sending your shootsac off to you tomorrow!"

Not only do I think this is an amazing project (love that he is teaching them photography) but I am in desperate need of one of Jessica's shootsac bags and would do anything to get my hands on one!

If you have a second please check out the link...
